Snow in Paris

Solid Gold

Paris in Winter

We are in the middle of winter. Here in Paris the snow has finally melted. For many days I had to tread lightly and to make sure each step was careful. Parks were closed and steep streets were avoided as the ice proved treacherous. For a time, just after Christmas and New Year, Paris was very quiet. The metro was nearly silent, cafés seemed to struggle for customers and store staff was talkative, if only out of loneliness. I resumed classes and my life was really as it was before going to Dallas for the holidays. The snow arrived with me and it was a welcomed change. The snow blanketed all of Paris, and it appears, most of France. Snow fell in places it had not in decades. The unfortunate thing is that the snow was a very cold one and by this I mean, strong cold winds and extremely low temperatures. My brain is still getting used to celsius, but understanding it or not, I know when it is cold and it has been very cold. I am far too much a wimp to go out in the cold to take photos (sorry readers), but I have thought of you and from time to time I got some shots in. These are the most recent. In the coming weeks I have some time off. No more school, no more books, no more teacher's dirty looks... I am planning to look into some places truly unique to Paris and report back. I am looking forward to this very much. Till then, take care and stay warm.

Moon over Paris
